How to improve the daily office grind

Work in a stuffy office all day? Bored of staring at a computer screen for eight hours? Co-workers driving you mad? You need to get some sunshine and stretch those lazy legs! It’s time to adjust your work:cycle balance – and nothing lifts the spirits better than sneaking out of the office for a lunch time smash fest.

My job is awesome in that it allows me decent ride time, but there’s always room for more (I don’t consider my job a “grind” either). Last week I took the lunch ride to a whole new level. I had two and a half hours blocked out for a meeting that got rescheduled so instead I quickly threw on my kit, grabbed the Kinesis and went out to crush some hills! It was a solid 55km hit out which included both ascents of Bonnet Hill followed by the Cat 2 rated Mount Nelson switchbacks. You can’t ask for much more than that!

Quality weekday lunch ride? Nailed it.

Okay, so not everyone is lucky enough to be able to keep a bike at the office, but if you drive in each day why not chuck the bike in the car one day a week and fit in a quick lunch break ride? Maybe even negotiate some flexi time for a longer spin?

Go on. Your mind and body will thank you!
