For any of you reading this in the Northern Hemisphere, I am sorry for your loss (of summer). Down here in the Dirty South though, winter has finally retreated and spring is most definitely in the air!

I know it’s been a little quiet here over the winter. I did actually have a reduced season on the bike as one thing or another kept me busy and off two wheels. Thankfully my fitness isn’t too shot. I’ve just come off the back of a short blast 8-week training block that boosted my power back from “meh” up to “acceptable, but not great” so I’m in a relatively good position heading into spring. Still, there’s a lot of room for improvement.
My weight (or more accurately, my body composition) isn’t quite where I’d like it to be either. Too many mid-ride cookies, or more likely too many tasty burgers. I’ll have to factor that into my training plan in order to get back into fighting shape before summer.

Speaking of summer, there’s only 16 weeks until Christmas and 19 weeks until the 2027 Tour Down Under! The Tour Down Under is currently my main goal that’s floating around my brain at the moment. An epic week of hot-weather riding through the Adelaide Hills. I need to be in good form for that.
While life is still relatively busy at the moment (I’ve also picked up some additional work) the days are getting brighter and warmer. Hopefully that leads to a little more time on the bike. I’ve really been lacking long rides and also high-intensity sessions. All of this needs to change over the next few months.
It’s time to get to work! 🚴♂️
Summer is still lingering on Cote d’Azur and it’s great cycling weather
