Yo! April and I have just got back from an awesome road trip around the south island of New Zealand!

Okay so we didn’t cycle tour. We hired a car for two weeks and soaked up just a small part of what the island had to offer and let me tell you – it’s a lot! Such a fantastic place full of incredible sights and experiences. I’m already thinking about when I can get back over there.

While there I got to do quite a bit of riding. The kiwis are MAD KEEN mountain bikers, so I had to indulge in some of that fat tyre fun. I managed to hire or borrow a bike in each place we stayed.

I rode everything from deep forest cross-country singletrack to epic downhill bike park trails and even meddled with a full suspension Specialized eBike at one point! True to tradition, we also hired a tandem to do some exploring.

I’ll delve into some of that later on. But for now, it looks like we’re at the end of the first month of 2020 already! How did that happen? Hope my Northern Hemisphere brothers and sisters have been keeping warm and in shape on the trainer. It’s a roasting 40 degrees Celsius (105 F) here today…
