Ten percent of the year!

That’s right folks, time marches on and a whopping 10% of 2022 has already passed us by! I hope you’ve all been making the most of every single day above the weeds.

January was a busy month for me. It’s always a high volume month at FulGaz, then throw in a trip to the Tour Down Under (okay, the Santos Festival of Cycling) in Adelaide and I didn’t quite hit the ride time I would have liked. Can’t complain though as it was mostly all fun and games. I didn’t have to spend too much time manning the stand in the oppressive Adelaide summer heat.

We had a scary incident with some local wildlife slithering up onto the driveway last week. Luckily April was nearby and spotted the evil serpent of death. I was in my office above the garage at the time getting on with some work. She yelled out to me to grab the dog and I leapt out of the window! I ran down and called Zane away.

Zane getting up close! These are still images from the security camera footage.

He was a very good, and very lucky boy, coming straight away. Thankfully the snake wasn’t too interested in lashing out, and simply slid away into the hedge and (hopefully) back away from the house. I’m no snake expert, but it was either a Tiger Snake or a Copperhead. Both can easily and quickly kill you.

But back to the bike. I probably need to up my game a little bit. A Covid booster shot kept my mileage a little lower last week. Apart from a sore arm and a lingering headache I was fine, but chose to take it easy and not push too hard. I’m hoping that’s the last of it for a while. I’ve got a bunch of VO2 max intervals that need crushing so I need to be feeling strong!

What about you? Have you been hitting your goals for the year so far?
