Cycling Podcasts

Lately I have been really getting into cycling podcasts. There seems to be a number of excellent ones popping up across most audio streaming services and YouTube, usually coming out on a weekly schedule. Three of my current favourite cycling-related podcasts are…

1) The Roadman Cycling Podcast

Hosted by Anthony Walsh, the Roadman Cycling Podcast tends to follow a “host and guest” format, where he deep dives into a topic or two with a special guest each episode. In my opinion this is one of the most insightful and interesting cycling podcasts out there. The one I’ve linked below is a chat with Dylan Johnson (elite US gravel racer and a successful YouTuber himself). Anthony also has fantastic podcasts featuring Alex Dowsett, Daryl Impey, and other pro and ex-pro cyclists.

2) Wild Ones Podcast – Cade Media

This is a relatively new podcast from the guys at Cade Media. Francis Cade and Jimmi Nicholls have one of the most successful cycling YouTube channels out there, and their podcast is an extension of that. The chat is very natural, funny, and always down to earth. It’s much more the “everyman’s podcast” than one aimed at the pure roadies, which is refreshing! They cover subjects across the whole spectrum of cycling and lifestyle, not just road cycling and the pro racing scene.

3) The NERO Show

This is another “informal chat” style podcast between two friends, but often featuring another well-known special guest from the cycling sphere. Chris Miller and Jesse Coyle (previously of NERO Continental) host this weekly chat. It does tend to be quite “road cycling heavy” and can contain a heavy dose of whinging at the state of road cycling, so if you’re not into that then this one is probably not for you.

All three of the above podcasts are released as a video podcast on their YouTube channels, but are also available to stream on on most of the usual audio services.

I prefer to “watch and listen” to the YouTube versions. There’s often some visual element, plus the expressions of the podcast hosts and guests comes across better (in my opinion). I know of a number of people who listen to podcasts while out cycling, but I’ve never been able to do that. My ability to concentrate on both the podcast subject and also not crashing is too low.

Do you have any favourites podcasts, cycling related or otherwise?

    1. Oh yeah that is a good one. I tend to pick and choose with that podcast, depending on the topics they’re covering in each episode.

They always have a tendency to ramble, it’s always good to listen as they have a variety of nuggets of information worth picking up on. Last time they were talking about perspiration and electrolyte loss, as well as the risk of diluting electrolytes if you drink too much water afterwards. Food for thought…
