The first of June. Five months torn off the 2023 calendar already. We’re almost half-way through another year. How did that happen?!?!
Right now I’m sitting in my office listening to the near gale force winds rip through the trees. I’m hoping it eases off enough for a safe ride later today. Apart from the frequent hectic winds, May has actually been a pretty good month here in Tasmania. Sure, the early morning and late evening rides require lights and long sleeves now, but that’s par for the course. Thanks for your advice regarding front lights earlier this month too. I ended up purchasing a new Lezyne 1300XXL.
Without really trying, I managed to easily crack 1000km and also surpass the 10,000 metre elevation gain mark in May, which for me is pretty good. Hitting up the local gravel has added to that climbing total as there aren’t many flat gravel roads around here. It’s almost always going up or down! I’ve actually really enjoyed the change of scenery, change of pace, and new challenge that gravel brings to the table.
May also marked the SEVEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY of moving to Tasmania! Seven years? Seriously I have no idea how that has flown by so quick. I do still miss England from time to time, but on the whole life here in Tassie has been grand.
For those in the Northern Hemisphere, summer is on the horizon for you. Long days filled with warmth and sunshine. I hope you are already enjoying (or looking forward to) some fantastic summer riding weather in the coming months.
Thanks for reading and as always, keep those wheels rubber side down! π
