2020 Resolution Rides: Completed it, mate!

There’s nothing quite like a complete collection. One of my goals this year was to ride at least one metric century (100km, roughly 62 miles) each month. It’s something I’ve tried to do for a few years now with varying degrees of success. As always, a big thanks to Paul at 36×25 for coining the “Resolution Ride” phrase.

This year, I nailed the challenge. I’ve actually had a pretty good year on the bike, but more on that in a later post. Most months I even managed more than just the one metric century. I hope you’ve all had a safe and relaxing Christmas. Thanks for sticking around and being part of the journey with me!

  1. I like this resolution ride idea too. I want to steal it for myself for 2021. This also reminds me I’m overdue for a blog post. I want to write about my meander valley trip and the Neika challenge. So little time to do things!

    1. It’s a great motivator to get some consistent endurance rides done, especially in the winter months!

    1. Thanks. To be honest, I haven’t even thought about next year yet! There’s a few destinations I’d like to ride (some awesome Tassie trails) so hopefully I’ll be able to travel a bit.

Nice! I’ve tried this in the past, but the winter month usually limit my ability to get long miles in! This would have been the year to do it, what with all that COVID time on my hands, but I opted for more rides, lol. Maybe 2021.

    1. It definitely does depend on where you live. In England it was tougher. I’d say in some places around the globe it’d be near impossible.

  6. Congratulations, TC! I resolved to do 0 100 km rides 12 times, and I got a perfect score! Actually I wouldn’t mind but do blame the heavy steel bike with only 9 gears.

But, riding every day for almost 15 months now and 1,300 mi more than my biggest year — which was 4 years ago ony lighter 27-speed — well, I guess I’m still doing alright, even if I’m slow as molasses.

But about you, do enjoy quality and joy rides sometimes, without caring what numbers end up on Strava? I hesitate to follow you there, literally and figuratively. Keep on while you can and have your youth and fitness.

    1. Hahaha thanks man! It’s been a good year on the bike for both of us for sure. Oh and don’t worry, they’re all joy rides! Loving every minute on two wheels. 😎

      1. Glad to hear it. I do wish I had a faster bike and body but at my age and weight I have had a pretty good 5-year run. My goal for 2021 is a lot less miles so I can focus on all around health. And maybe that will lead to a faster body, and as for a new bike, one can always hope.

        1. Looking forward to following your 2021 adventures! Riding every day is great, but not if you’re trying to get fast. I don’t “train” I simply ride my bike fast(ish) for fun when I can. It’s all relative. Luckily for me, a fast bike is a tax deduction…
