Today marks the FOURTH ANNIVERSARY of my move from England to Australia. On this day four years ago I stepped off the plane with my BikeBoxAlan at Hobart Airport and back onto Australian soil to begin the next chapter of my life.

Packed up my life and sent it waaaay down south!

It’s been a trip, that’s for sure. Never could I have imagined that in those four short years I’d be living here with my own piece of land and a dog and the relaxed country lifestyle April and I have built together. Some days I still have to pinch myself. I know I am a very lucky man.

Sure, I miss England at times. I sure do miss the friendships I built over my 11 years there, especially the guys and gals I met through Woking Cycling Club. Those were hands down fantastic times with the club and I will forever cherish them. I also miss the ease of travel that living in England affords. Okay so not right now, but there’s something special about being able to day trip to another country! Or drive to Belgium for a weekend away, totally immersed in another culture.

I love it here though. It’s home – for now. I marked today’s anniversary with a ride (of course). After planting a bunch of native trees on the property, I escaped for a quick blast, clocking three fast laps of my local short training circuit. It seemed only fitting to ride some of first roads I ever explored upon moving here. They still make me smile.

Well, it’s been grand. It has absolutely flown by. I wonder what the next four years will bring? #keepycling
