Wow, it’s been a month since my last post on here! It’s not that I’ve been ignoring you lovely lot, but more that I’ve been busy riding my bike. More to the point, I’ve been busy riding my bike to/from work (that’s 160 miles per week) sandwiching in a full day’s work on my feet in between and then trying to squeeze in a longer or more intense ride on the weekends.
Since the clocks went back the commute home has been completely after sunset. Fortunately my 1200 lumen Lezyne front light has performed faultlessly and certainly scorches up the road in front, even on half power! I actually quite like cycling at night once I’m away from the peak hour traffic.
I still get to see a spectacular sunrise as I cycle over Walton Bridge most mornings which makes for a superb start to the day. To make things even better the weather has been unseasonably warm (albeit windy) for November. We’ve not even had a single morning’s frost so far. Hard to believe it’s only around four weeks until the shortest day of the year. Where does the time go?!?!
That said, from tomorrow it’s about to get sub-zero!!! #keepcycling
Yup, looking like Sunday will be below 3 degrees. If it’s three degrees at home there’s a good chance of ice on the road when I get out into the countryside, so I’ll be doing a few laps of Regent’s Park instead.

Every week for the past couple of months I’ve been grateful that it’s still been pleasant to ride so I suppose we can’t complain.

Lovely image. There’s no real cycling at night here in London’s warm glow. I miss that isolation, that floating feeling of riding in darkness.

Cheers, it’s hard to do it justice as it’s gorgeous when the sun lights up the Thames along there. Night cycling is all about that focus of just what’s in your light’s beam, nothing else matters, like rocketing through space, truly something very special.

Are you talking F or C on that temp? We’re heading into a snow storm, possibly blizzard tomorrow here with temps around 25F tonight and 40 F tomorrow. Like it matters for my riding anyway…… Sigh……..

Damn! Eight inches of snow would shut down the entire country here, haha!

My daughter made it the 12 miles home this evening, but the lack of visibility almost made her turn around. With the snow we’re currently seeing, we also have 20mph winds. Ah, Iowa!
